Group repositories into workspaces with draggable repo tabs and per-workspace AI context. Tab strips scroll horizontally with the mouse wheel when they overflow, and keep the active tab in view. Add several local repositories at once — duplicates and unusable paths are reported without failing the batch. Newly added repositories stay active, and batch additions activate the last added repository. A workspace is an abstraction — not a directory on disk.
Stage, unstage, discard and ignore with confidence. Unresolved index conflicts appear in the Changes count and open directly in the conflict editor, even outside an active merge. Conventional-commit assistance and AI-assisted messages make committing fast.
The Tide Workbench splits the main area into peer History and Changes workspaces with a resizable history pane above a wide file/diff inspector, keeping selections, drafts and the commit composer scoped to the repository you are working in. Circular graph nodes and merge geometry are preserved, with horizontal panning, aligned metadata columns, full topology access and quiet ref labels. Full branch operations, double-click a remote branch to check it out as a tracked local, and right-click menus on commits and refs — checkout, cherry-pick, revert, reset and more. Set upstream tracking from the complete remote-branch list, and the sidebar auto-expands to the branch you check out.
Compact expandable file rows and lazy previews, with side-by-side and unified views and character-level highlighting inside changed lines, side-by-side image diffs (old vs new, common image formats — for unstaged changes the new side reflects the live worktree), and file-level context. Selected-file / side previews with explicit truncation, virtualised text rows, paired split replacements and syntax highlighting with on-demand language resources keep large diffs fast.
Bring your own key. Explain commits, draft PR descriptions, assist commit messages — diffs stay local unless you send them to your chosen provider. Offline AI now enforces loopback-only connectivity, bypasses proxies, disables redirects, and screens complete blob versions for private-key material before any diff fragment is sent.
Stash (scoped to the active repo — every entry opens a detail window with its file list and diff, its actions are labelled buttons, apply pre-checks a working copy that has uncommitted changes and drop confirms before running), interactive rebase, worktrees, submodules, LFS, SSH key management, a command palette, auto-updates, a background auto-refresh that keeps every repo in the workspace current on a configurable interval, and system-proxy-aware networking. One click opens the active repo in your file manager, terminal, or a detected code editor (VS Code / Zed / VSCodium) — all in one app. The app menu and the operation bar share a single-row custom title bar, with macOS traffic lights and Windows / Linux window controls kept clear. macOS native menu actions reliably open Settings and repository dialogs. After installing a macOS update, Restart Now reopens the app; restart request failures are visible and can be retried.
